Beauty Buzz Trial - Merle Norman Cosmetics

Hey Beauty Bees,

Today's Beauty Buzz Trial is all about a new makeup brand I have stumbled upon a few weeks ago. Merle Norman is a family-run business with hundreds of cosmetics lines for consumers to choose from. Selling products like make-up to fragrance to skincare, Merle Norman has something for everyone's needs.

Merle Norman Cosmetics
I was in a rush to meet up with some friends the day I tried these products out, so I created a minimal look that would work for anyone. This is the look I created with the 5 products I was sent:
The only other products that I used in this look were CK One Mascara and Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder.

❤ CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 in Light/Medium Beige ($28)
I absolutely loved this product!! Usually I have a hard time finding foundations that match my skin color, but this one was perfect. I used my beauty blender to apply it to my face and it blended out very well. It states that it is a light coverage and can be built up, but I only used two pumps and it covered so well that I did not need a concealer. (Which is almost impossible with me since I always need concealer for something whether it be blemishes, dark circles or redness) With a light powder on top, this foundation lasted all day and
still looked perfect when I went to take it off.
❤ Liquid Lipcolor in At Last ($15)
I have always liked products like this that is in the form of a lip gloss but when applied has the full colored pigment of a lipstick. The color from the bottle looked like a deep brownish red, but once on the lips it was more of a berry red. It was extremely moisturizing and made my lips look plump and full. The lasting power of the gloss was not as long as I would have liked especially during lunch but the color did stay all day almost like how a lip stain works.
❤ Pro Pen Eyeliner in Sharp Brown ($14)
Personally, I have never been the best at using felt tip liners but this one made it so easy. The ergonomic grip helped me out alot by helping keep my hand steady while lining my upper lash line. You can easily make thin or thicker lines just by how hard you press it against your eyes. I liked the brown color much better then I would have a black. The only problem I had was that it smudged easily when I used it but after cleaning it up and restarting I was able to get a perfect line. I used this liner as close to the lash line as I could to let the eyeshadow be the main focus.
❤ Limited Edition Eyeshadow Quad in Spell Bound ($25)
The colors in this quad are absolutely gorgeous colors for fall and perfect on everybody since purple shadows look good with every eye color. The pigmentation was not the absolute best, definitely needs to be worked up to its full potential but still great shadows. The four colors in this quads used together create a beautiful smokey eye that I show above and I believe would look great on everyone.
❤ Limited Edition 4-in-1 Color Kit ($25)
With 2 cheek colors, 1 highlighter and 1 bronzer, this product is such a great deal. They can be used separately or swirled together to give yourself a warm wash of color on the cheeks, like I did above. The case comes with a mirror built in which makes it the perfect product to keep in your purse and travel makeup case for touch ups or to just use as a compact.

Overall, Merle Norman's products worked well separately and looked great when put together. The formulas and pigmentation of each product amazed me and stayed put for the full time I needed them to. I can see using the foundation and lip colors almost every day and mixing in the other products every once in a while. I can not wait to play around with these products more and create some different looks with other makeup from my collection.

  1. I am 62. Have used MN products since I was 16. Constantly am told that I have pretty skin. I am not a pretty lady but I do have nice skin. Have tried other makeups and skin care products and in no way have they lived up to the MN quality. When asked what makeup and skincare I use, I always say MN. People then say "oh, that's too expensive!" Don't understand that since most of the "popular" brands that those same people use are way more expensive than MN. MN provides high quality skincare and makeup but since it's not one of the "trendy" brands, a lot of people won't even try it. Did you know that even their mineral powders outperformed and scored the highest on many beauty advisors' list of top mineral products? I would put MN products up against any of the products that others swear by cause my daughter and I have tried those other products and we both love MN way more than those other products that claim near miracles! Their CC creams, Ultra powder, Bronzing powder, cheek & eye colors, lip color and lip glaze and wicked lash mascara cannot be beat! Their skincare like the wrinkle smoother line, fine line minimizer, brilliant c serum, energizing concentrate and skin polishers and refiners are wonderful. Anyway, love MN. Products you can trust to help you achieve pretty skin and beautiful makeup, whatever your age.

    1. I totally agree :) I am pretty shocked people think Merle Norman is expensive, when your right put up to a brand like Benefit it is around the same price if not cheaper!! I loved the products and found them to be better then some of the other products I have in my collection. I am looking forward to trying other products from them and hopefully others will see this post and do the same. Thanks for the comment!

  2. Please do more merle normal looks. I search high and low for videos and blogs creating different looks with MN makeup and they're very hard to find. Ive read your post a handfull of times already and just never commented on it. im trying to make a habit of commenting instead if just reading things :). Ill try and subscribe to as soon as I get my email situated. MN is pretty much all i use and after trying other brands for two years i went back to MN and realized nothing else compares. It's very prevalent for mature women who have worn mn for years to have nice skin and they do not look there age.. It's just high quality and the foundations create a barrier that blocks free radicals protects from harsh elements and heals skin. Even there oldest foundation "powder base" is still around and is amazing for dry skin. Its a cream that you apply powder over. I love the glycolic pads for exfoliating, the daily moisture toner, and so so many others. Would love to see a glowy foundation look maybe step by step. And pink smoky eye. You should make YouTube videos to. Thank you, xoxo
