Beauty Buzz Trial - Yu-Be Skincare

Hey Beauty Bees,

I always wonder about what kind of products people use around the world. I have been given the opportunity to review a brand that is based outside of America. Yu-Be (pronounced "YOO-BEE") is a Japanese skincare company that has some really interesting products and although they do not ship internationally, they do sell these products in most Sephora and Whole Foods stores. Here is an in depth description and my review of each product I tried.

1. Moisturizing Skin Cream

A Glycerin-based moisturizing cream enriched with Vitamin E, Vitamin B2 and Camphor. Its non-greasy formula absorbs quickly and leaves your skin extremely soft. It helps:

  • heal split cuticles and smooth rough, dry skin on hands, elbows, knees and feet
  • protect and moisturize skin exposed to cold, wind, water and sun
  • replenishes lost moisture from water damage or frequent hand washing
  • heal and minimize scarring from burns
This is the one of the best hand creams I have ever used, especially after dealing with dry skin from washing dishes everyday. It absorbs into the skin very well but I only wish that it smelt better. At first the smell is very strong and almost medicinal but it does go away after a few mins

2. Lip Balm
Yu-Be Lip Balm is an all-natural lip balm with ingredients based on the original Japanese Yu-Be formula and includes Vitamin E and camphor (an ingredient that helps relieve discomfort leaving lips feeling healthy).

This is an alright chapstick. I did find myself having to reapply it many times throughout the day but it did make my lips feel soft. Another downer was that it had the same unappealing smell as the lotion but once again it does not last long. If you are looking for a chapstick for the sole purpose of a clear balm that deeply repairs your lips, this would definitely work. If your like me and love tints and flavors then this is probably not for you.

3. Foaming Skin Polish
An exfoliating scrub for the face and body that is an advanced purifying, exfoliating prep-step to your skincare routine. Fine grains of rice bran combine with bamboo and gentle cleansing agents to create a foaming scrub that washes away dead skin cells and debris. Extracts of ginger root and ginseng tone and balance the skin, while green tea, geranium oil and camphor provide a soothing, refreshing sensation.

Personally, I will not be using this product again. I am not exactly sure if there was an ingredient in it that gave me an allergic reaction but after trying this product my skin felt very itchy and was extremely red. Always make sure you read products ingredients before trying out something new to make sure everything within will not irritate or cause harm to your skin.

4. Moisturizing Body Lotion
The same formula from Yu-Be skin cream but in a moisturizing body lotion! Moisturizes and protects against dry skin during the cold months - then soothes sunburns and replenishes moisture in the summer.

I find it extremely cool that this product can work well in cold and hot months. It definitely does what is says, to moisturize the skin and leave it feeling soft and smooth. Once again thoughtthe initial scent is bad that dissipates after a minute or so.

5. Heel & Elbow Moisturizing Socks
These one size fit all moisturizing socks are made with an advanced bacteria-absorbing material called Chitosan (pronounced Kite-uh-san) that is both hypoallergenic and has remarkable anti-microbial properties to help eliminate odor and promote healthy skin.

Directions for a "Yu-Be Nighttime Moisturizing Treatment": Soak and wash dry, cracked heels or elbows in warm water for several minutes before bedtime to allow pores to open and maximize absorbtion while you sleep. Apply Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream generously on affected areas and cover the socks.

This product was definitely something I had never seen before. They fit very snug and did not move during the night, which could be concerning for people with larger feet as I have the average size 8 foot and they fit tightly. The next morning when I took them off my heels were a little softer then before. Just putting the skin cream on the specific areas without the use of socks would probably give you the exact same result though.

In conclusion, these products are an alright buy. Personally, I did not like the smell of any of them and prefer other products that work just as well but have a better scent. I do not plan to purchase them in the future but that is from my own experience of them. I am someone who has a strong sense of smell so the littlest scent can tip me off of something. Everyone's nose is different so I would still recommend to try some since they did work well at what they are meant to do. Who knows, you may like them better then I did.
