Fashion in Movies - The Kingsman: The Secret Service

Colin Firth Spy Movie Inspires Mr Porter Clothing Line (Exclusive)
Hey Beauty Bees,

Last week Chris and I went on a date night to the movies. Out of everything playing we decided we wanted to see The Kingsman: The Secret Service. I had seen the preview multiple times at other movies and had been very interested in seeing it once it came out. I have to admit this was the best movie date night ever since we went to an earlier showing and we had the entire theater to ourselves.

Here is a quick snippet on what the movie was about:

  1. "Gary "Eggsy" Unwin (Taron Egerton), whose late father secretly worked for a spy organization, lives in a South London housing estate and seems headed for a life behind bars. However, dapper agent Harry Hart (Colin Firth) recognizes potential in the youth and recruits him to be a trainee in the secret service. Meanwhile, villainous Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) launches a diabolical plan to solve the problem of climate change via a worldwide killing spree."

We both really enjoyed the movie since we have always loved spy movies especially ones that remind us of James Bond. We both agreed that there were so many different things in the movie that would make us watch it again such as the humor, the fight scenes, the gadgets and the James Bond-esque fashion.

Throughout the movie the actors constantly make a spectacle on what they or others were wearing. There was one quote that clued me into the role that the costumes really did have in this movie. “A suit is a modern gentleman’s armor,...The Kingsman agents are the new knights.” stated Colin Firth, playing the international super spy Harry Hart.

Being the fashion enthusiast that I am, once I got home I just had to research more into this. I found out that the e-commerce emporium Mr Porter had a partnership with the film's director and was making all the apparel and accessories that we saw on the movie available to purchase online. Some of these pieces are more on the pricey side such as Firth's blue velvet dinner jacket coming out to $1,995 and the George Cleverley knife shoes that Eggsy was so interested in costing $950.

Here are some snapshots from the movie that really display the amazing fashion.
Throughout the movie, you may be distracted by the brogues, or the double-breasted suits, or even the eyeglasses and woven ties, but with this great partnership you can get them yourself. Check out Mr.Porters website for the 60-piece menswear Kingmans Collection now.
