Guest Post - Best Themed Halloween Party Ideas by Peter Minkoff

"Hey Beauty Bees,"

The end of October is finally here, so let's get the party started! Halloween madness has already begun, which means that carved pumpkins, spiders, bats and spooky costumes are pretty much everywhere around us. I really love this time of the year, simply because I can express my creativity in the best possible way. However, if you are somehow puzzled about throwing your own Halloween party, I can help you. Here are four ideas on how to choose a right theme, decoration and costumes, as well as food and drinks that all your guests will love. Check them out.
Mad Scientist Laboratory
Greet your guests dressed up in a white coat, long black gloves, goggles and crazy wig. Don't forget to provide coats for your guests, too! Put fake body parts covered in blood into glass jars and place them all over the 'lab'. The biggest jar that contains a brain should be placed in the middle of the table with food – your guests will be completely freaked out. If you have a fireplace, put a huge cauldron filled with dry ice into it, and everyone will love the creepy effect that smoke produces. Of course, a mad scientist laboratory is not the real one without monsters that are engineered in it – place a Frankenstein photo cutout behind your lab table for an ultimate surprise.

Bloody Banquet
Hang skulls and blood splatter clings all over the place and greet your guests – this will certainly give them chills and goosebumps. Low lighting and candles are a must-have, because they will take the eerie atmosphere to the next level. Scatter some fake human hands and feet around the table with food so that your friends trip on them every time they want to approach it. Play a horror movie such as Carrie or Saw, sip Bloody Mary and homemade brain cupcakes while watching it. Of course, a costume contest simply cannot be avoided, and you should prepare some weird awards for the winners. A human eye in a jar or a necklace with pendant filled with blood will do the trick.

Baywatch Theme Party
If you are feeling fit this fall, choose a sexy Halloween costume this year and go as a Baywatch lifeguard. Just wait for a off-season swimwear sale and find that iconic red bathing suit. Adjust it to the theme by adding a Baywatch logo to it. Awaken your inner Pamela Anderson by putting a blonde wig on your head, and you will definitely feel stunning and self-confident. Some additional props, such as sunglasses and foam board are unavoidable and super effective. Here is an extra tip: make your grand entrance by playing the famous Baywatch theme song! This could be your perfect costume for the 90’s theme party, too.

Massacre at the Oscars
Throw a fabulous party in the style of the Academy Awards, but with a little twist. Yes, your guests should be all dressed up, including glamorous gowns and tuxedos – but covered in blood, ripped and filthy.  Instead of actors and actresses, their favorite stars will be murderers, cannibals and zombies, which will provide a great amount of fun to all of you. You, as a host, can hand out spooky skeleton-shaped Oscars for the best dressed guests at the end of the party.

As you can see, there are many creative and over-the-top ways to celebrate Halloween. It’s all up to you to choose how you will do it. However, you should know that theme parties are definitely much more fun – especially when it comes to organization and decoration. Of course, these will require slightly more time, but be sure that both you and your guests will be happier with it than with a regular costume party. Have fun celebrating and happy Halloween!
