Blogmas 5 - 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Recap

2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Recap
Hey Beauty Bees,

Last night was the night we have all been waiting a full year for. No, not Christmas eve, it was the 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. With its return to Manhattan after moving for the first time to London last year, the Victoria's Secret Fashion show is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Aired in 185 countries, 47 models walked the runway, including Kendall Jenner and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Gigi Hadid, showcasing over 70 different looks with 6 themed segments.

With such an outstanding show last year, broadcasting some amazing performers like Taylor Swift and Hozier, Victoria's Secret had a huge feat this year to try and top it. Read on to get the full scoop on the whole show.

This opening segment was super fun to watch. I loved all the fringe and groovy looking wings the models were sporting. This collection was filled with color and intense geometric prints that really matched the theme. I also fell in love with all the over the knee boots that a lot of the models were wearing. Kendall Jenner made her first appearance on the show in this segment and I must say how beautiful she looked and how comfortable and confident she was on that stage.

The Weeknd lit up a gothic setting of iron fences and broken windows with his sexy track, "In the Night." This segment was a mixture of black lace, icy blue chiffon and gold accents. It definitely had a very sexy vibe to it which matched the whole atmosphere that the lighting and music made.

Exotic Butterflies

Ellie Goulding performed "Army" during this segment decorated with blue-hued butterflies and branches. They had some really amazing wings in this part of the show especially since they used a lot of actually butterfly looking designs. The lingerie displayed here seemed the most wearable in my opinion since I constantly kept mentioning how much I would love to own certain sets. It was all around very mesmerizing to watch.

PINK USA

Selena Gomez seemed to really enjoying dancing and performing "Hands to Myself" before launching into the fun and upbeat "Me & My Girls," an apt pick for the patriotic "Pink U.S.A." Being from the PINK line of Victoria Secret, all the pieces were very youthful, colorful and fun. I thought it was so cool how every model seemed to portray a profession or character of America such as Astronauts, Police Offices, Firefighters, Cowboys, Bikers, Surfers and even a ballerina. I that the model dressed head to toe in the American flag was one of my favorite looks of the night!

Ice Angels

This was by far my favorite segment of the night. Ellie Goulding warmed up a wintry scene by performing her Fifty Shades of Grey ballad "Love Me Like You Do," as snow fell on the models. I really enjoyed seeing all the beautiful white lace looks and fur-covered boots and accessories. It was like a Winter Wonderland with all the snowflake and angel feathered wings being displayed.

Fireworks

The Weeknd who reprised his summer hit "Can't Feel My Face" for the boardwalk-themed "Fireworks" final segment. This section had the best costume pieces by far with twirling feathers, faux explosives and light-up angel wings. It was super colorful and  explosive (not literally) which really reminded me of a Rio Janeiro carnival.

Like every other year their is the famous Fantasy Bra that is usually worth a crazy amount of money. This year Lily Aldrige was given the honor of walking down the runway showcasing the $2 million Fireworks Fantasy Bra created by Mouawad. The bra is handset with diamonds, blue topaz, and yellow sapphires set in 18K gold. The bra and matching belt took more than 685 hours to create and total 1,364.9 Carats.

Overall, I thought it was a great show. The models looked great and all the collections looked amazing. I could tell they really upped their game on the accessories and wings this year, making each look so much more mesmerizing and beautiful. My only dislike was some of the choices on performances. I think they did a better job on picking performers and songs last year than they did this year.
