A Not So Awkward Topic...Panties

Underwear. That was the answer I got from my Fiance this morning when I asked him what topic I should write about next. At first I laughed and blew off the idea, thinking he was joking, until I faced him and saw the convinced look on his face. The man who I have to drag with full force to just walk into a store that has panties in the vicinity. The man who literally repels Victoria Secret when we walk by it. This same man telling me to write about garments women wear underneath there clothing.

It isn't just men though. Some women act the same way when it comes to their own underwear. They shy away from places like Victoria Secret or La Senza just because they don't want other people to know what they are going to buy, or worse, wear. There is no reason to be ashamed for picking up a thong or g-string instead of the "safe appropriate" choose of a classic brief. It is all just a big stereotype that certain panties or certain bras describes a persons personality or their actions.

Over the years underwear has definitely changed from its more "proper" look but the purpose has stayed the same. Every type of panty was made for a reason. It is the women's responsibility to figure out what type is right for their body type, comfort and event. For example, a thong or g-string is the best choice for a slim fitting dress because they produce no panty lines. But what about all the other kinds. How do they fit? What are there purpose? Don't worry, I got you covered.

The most basic panty style is the brief which rises just below the navel, and has full coverage in the back. From here there are three types of briefs:

  • Classic (or full brief)- features sides that extend below the hip.
  • High-cut (or French cut brief)- sides that are somewhat narrower.
  • Control  (or control panties)- usually contains a stretch material such as spandex and may extend above the waist, designed to offer support while giving a slimmer appearance. Can even be found with a thong styled back.
These are not a personal favorite for me for everyday but are a great choice for someone who wants ultimate comfort. I do however suggest control panties for anybody who is feeling subconscious about there body. Personally, I find them handy during weddings when I am wearing a dress since they smooth everything out and now a days they are made without the uncomfortable boning so many older generations cringe at.

The next pair are boy shorts, which are styled like men's briefs and may have short legs extending below the crotch. These are my choice for the perfect workout panty since they don't ride up and are super comfy. When made in the right material such as spandex, elastane or rayon, they can fit and stretch under any workout clothing and move well with your body throughout any workout. Also these materials wick away sweat much better then any others. Another reason they’re great? Coverage. Surprisingly great under skirts and dresses, or anything with a more flowy fabric. If you’re wearing a skirt on a windy day, wouldn't you rather be wearing booty shorts than anything smaller?!

Hipster
Bikini

Hipsters and Bikinis have a similar style. Both sit at hip and have less coverage in the back then a brief, however bikini's side sections are a bit narrower. Both are in my arsenal of everyday "go-to" panties. They fit perfectly under jeans, pants, and your favorite skirts, with more coverage than a thong but less than a boy short. They are perfect for everyday activities no matter what your agenda has planned.

Tangas provide a moderate to minimal coverage with back coverage that is more than a thong but narrower than a bikini, with a very narrow waistband. Tangas are not a favorite at all for me. Since they are dead set in the middle of a bikini and thong they can tend to get uncomfortable since you want them to basically just pick a side. Of course it is totally up to your own comfort and body type I just personally shy away from this style

Thong
G-String

Now our last two "scandalous"choices, thongs and g-strings. Both waistbands similar to tangas, but the rear coverage is mostly cut away, becoming wider towards the top for thongs. G-string are just a vertical string at the back connecting crotch to waistband. These last two options are great for when you want to eliminate those pesky panty lines. A nude thong is as basic and essential as you can get. It’s a must for dressy events, or wearing under a pair of white or light-colored pants or leggings because with see thru fabrics, panty lines is not the most important thing on your mind. A lot of women shy away from thongs or g-strings since they feel uncomfortable with them on. In return, i'd suggest trying lace thongs. They literally feel like nothing! These thongs lie perfectly flat against your skin, almost blending into it giving you the utmost comfort. As you can probably imagine, they work well under just about everything.

Next time your out shopping for panties, don't forget to have fun. Also, never let the reason of nobody else seeing them keep you from picking out something wild or fun. Luxurious underwear can make you feel pretty, sassy, and flirty all at once! Pick your favorite cuts, then get a few pairs in prints, patterns, neon, or even as a part of a matching set. Fun lingerie is an instant pick-me-up, and a secret shot of confidence – even if you’re wearing sweats, you’ll feel glamorous and sexy knowing you have something fabulous on underneath. So have fun and work it, girls!
