Tips on Picking Out Cute but Reliable Workout Gear

Hey Beauty Bees,

During the month of January many people start to cash in on the new year resolutions they made at the end of the previous year. The most common one is to get in shape and hit the gym.

Yes, In reality I know some people will not make it past a couple months of working out but I thought it would be a cool idea to give you some tips on dressing for the gym. Maybe having the right type of clothing and still looking good at the same time will give you that extra motivation to hit that treadmill or pick up some weights.

Tips

1. No Baggy Clothing - When I say baggy, I mean like over-sized t-shirts and pants that are dragging on the floor. Not only does it make you look bigger then you actually are, it is an actually safety concern. Loose clothing can get snagged or caught on machines which can cause you to get hurt. You could also trip on pants that are too long. You do not need to wear skin tight pants or shirts that are too small, but definitely choose clothing that fits closer to the body while still being comfy.

2. Short Sleeves - I always advise on wearing shorter sleeves when working out because you do not want to overheat and short sleeves provide better air circulation helping your body to cool down. I know that during the colder months this seems crazy but it can still apply. Wear sweaters that have zippers or are easy to take off and once you feel warmed up, shed the extra layer.

3. Invest In A Good Sports Bra - This one is a biggie!! You do not want your girls going crazy while you are running on the treadmill. A good fitting sports bra that holds your chest in place will also prevent you from having any chest or back problems during or after your workouts, including tissue damage that over time can cause stretch marks and sagging. Even the smallest sizes can experience permanent damage to connective tissue over time if you neglect to give them the right support.

4. Invest In A Good Pair of Shoes - There are so many different types and brands of shoes to pick from. Make sure you are choosing the right type of shoes for the specific activity you are going to be doing; shoes for running on the treadmill will not work for when you want to play a court or field sport. The right shoes will give you the best stability and traction during your workouts. Also remember that your workout shoes should not be worn as a pair of everyday shoes because you will wear them out quickly. Always keep these shoes separate and only wear them during exercising.

  2. I usually get my gym clothes in bulk at Tchibo, a german brand. They are good quality and not to expensive.
Except sportsbras. They are an item I invest in. (My current one is a Nike)
