Urban Decay's Naked Smoky Palette First Impression

Urban Decay's Naked Smoky Palette First Impression
Hey Beauty Bees,

Today I am so excited to share with you my first impression of the newest makeup palette from Urban Decay - Naked Smoky. This product has been highly advertised and hyped over the past few weeks. I was so happy that I was able to get this beauty through the Urban Decay website on its release day! I literally stayed up until 3 am to make sure I did not miss out. Two days later when I walked into my apartment building, there was a box waiting for me at my front door. Before I could even get my shoes off I was already ripping into the packaging and swatching the 12 amazing colors.

If you are not familiar with Urban Decay, they are well known for their nude colored palettes. They currently have Naked, Naked 2, Naked 3, Naked Basics, Naked Basics 2 and Naked on the Run. The Naked Smoky palette is the next in their Naked line and contains 12 powder eye shadows that are perfect for a more smokey nude look.

Here is the look of the Naked Smoky palette and I absolutely love it!! The smoky marble effect is so cool and the sleek packaging will be perfect for storing. I personally think it will look amazing as a display item on any girls vanity.

When you pop open the magnetic case, these are the 12 colors you see. I love that it has matte, satin and sparkly shades, giving you a versatile set of colors to work with. I have had trouble with fall out with my Naked palette before but I did not have that issue with this one. The pigmentation of these shadows are pretty good but I did notice that one shade (Password) seemed to not want to swatch the best.

From left to right, here are the shades (My favorites are in bold):

High (champagne shimmer w/micro-glitter)
Dirtysweet (medium bronze)
Radar (metallic taupe w/iridescent micro-glitter)
Armor (metallic silver-taupe w/tonal sparkle)
Slanted (light metallic gray)
Dagger (medium charcoal w/micro-shimmer)
Black Market (jet-black satin)
Smolder (deep plum-taupe)
Password (cool taupe matte)
Whiskey (rich brown matte)
Combust (soft pink-taupe)
Thirteen (light beige satin)
Urban Decay's Naked Smoky Palette dual ended makeup brush
Another great thing about Urban Decay palettes is that they add a makeup brush too. This exclusive double-ended brush (with a Tapered Crease Brush on one end and a Smoky Smudger Brush on the other) made applying and blending these colors super easy.

Urban Decay's Naked Smoky Palette tutorial card
I opened this palette so quickly that I did not even notice the extra little card that had four step-by-step eye tutorials (Iconic UD Smoky Eye, Smoky Reality Star, Smoky Cat and Everyday Smoky) and a list of smokey eye tips.

I have fallen in love with the Smoky Reality Star tutorial, that showcases the shades Thirteen, Black Market, and Dagger, and have been wearing this look for the past week.

I would highly recommend this palette to every girl out there, especially anyone who has ever had a hard time doing smoky looks because with the tutorial card and amazing brush, this palette will teach you the ways to the perfect smokey eye. I really love the colors in this palette and I am so excited to try out different combinations.

I bought this product at Urbandecay.com but you can also get it at Sephora, Ulta and select Macy's stores. The Naked Smoky palette costs $54 and even though I agree on it being pretty steep in cost, I absolutely love this palette and I know you will too!
