A Day in the Life of a Beauty Bee - Indianapolis Roadtrip
Hey Beauty Bees,

It has been almost a week since I have gotten back from my road trip and I can honestly say I wish I could be back on the road. We have since unpacked our bags and gotten back into the swing of regular day life. One good thing about being home is that I can now share with you how our trip went and some of the sites we saw on the road.

If you did not read my earlier post or follow me on Twitter (@leepoe1), you would not have heard yet where we went. Chris planned our trip to Indianapolis Indiana for the Red Bull Indianapolis Moto GP at the Motor Speedway.
Our luggage and grocery cart with roadtrip essentials
Wednesday night before we headed out, we stopped at Market Basket (a New England grocery store chain) to load up on some essentials for our trip which included: fruit cups, watermelon, paper towels, candy, feminine products and drinks. We decided to drive during the night time since there would be a lot less traffic to deal with.
Sites on the road to Indy
We then headed toward our destination of Indianapolis, Indiana. On the way we saw some amazing sites like the Appalachian Mountains and many other mountain ranges. What I found interesting is that we drove through 8 different states: Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio and Indiana. 15 hours, 941 miles and 3 pits tops later, we were at our destination.
Downtown Indy
We arrived Thursday afternoon and after such a long trip we did not want to do anything else but take a nap. Afterwards, we took a stroll around downtown Indianapolis, taking in all the sites of the city. We saw the Lucas Oil Stadium where the Indianapolis Colts play as well as Victory Field, Monument Circle, the Convention Center and the Indiana State Capital building. We were both impressed with how modern, open and clean the city was compared to what we are used to in Boston which tends to be very crowded and more rustic looking.

On Friday morning, Chris and I split up to do our own thing. I went shopping at Circle Center Mall (which you can see my haul here) and Chris went to the practice runs at the Speedway. We then met up afterwards and spent the afternoon hanging out at the hotel, sharing our morning with each other. That night we went back to Monument Circle for a motorcycle event that was going on called Motorcycles on Meridian.

Pit Lane Walk at Moto GP Race
On Saturday and Sunday, we spent the full days at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the races. We got VIP Village passes which meant that we had our own lounge overlooking the start/finish line and right above the pit lanes meaning we could look down and see all the bikers and their teams. These passes also gave us access to our own section of outdoor seating to watch the races.

I can honestly say we had the best seats in the house and the treatment in these lounges was unbelievable. Our passes included a gourmet buffet breakfast and lunch each day as well as an unlimited bar which had our own bartender, who I must say was awesome and made our whole experience that much better.

What sold us on these passes was that we were given the chance on both days to do a pit lane walk...yes we got to walk along side where all the racers ride into their garages for pit stops. Chris absolutely loved being able to see inside the pit garages and seeing all the bikes where as I found it amazing watching the motorcycles go by us on the track that was only about 20 feet away from us.

Valentino Rossi 46
Our favorite racer Valentino Rossi and his garage.
The race was incredible and our favorite racer came in 3rd after a well fought fight between him and the racer who came in 4th. Overall, we had an amazing weekend at the track and plan on going to many more races.
My outfits of the weekend
Here are some of the outfits I wore throughout the weekend that I was able to get some snapshots of. I wore a lot of comfy and casual outfits since this weekend was a more relaxed trip.

Have you gone on any road trips this Summer? If not, where would be your favorite places to go for one?
